Biography:

Altan Erkekli was born on 18 November 1955 in Istanbul. His full name is Reşit Altan Erkekli. He spent his childhood in Koşuyolu.

Altan Erkekli attended Diyarbakır Maarif College as a boarding school at the age of 11. He completed his high school education at Kadıköy Maarif College, now known as Kadıköy Anatolian High School. In 1975, he started his undergraduate education at Ankara University, Faculty of History and Geography, Department of Theater. In these years, he also stepped into acting professionally.

Erkekli entered the Ankara Art Theater the year he started university. In 1985, he worked in the Children’s and Youth Theaters section of the State Theaters. In 1989, he moved to Ankara Art Theater again. He continued his duty here until 2000.

Erkekli, who also worked as a lecturer at Ankara University between 1994 and 2000, left Ankara Art Theater and joined BKM Actors, including artists such as Yılmaz Erdoğan and Demet Akbağ.

   He won the Art Institution Best Actor Award in 1982 and 1996, the Altan Erbulak Best Actor Award in 1997, the Theater Critics Best Actor Award in 1998, and in 2001 for his role in Vizontele. He received the Best Actor Award at the Antalya Film Festival.

     Altan Erkekli, who first appeared in front of the cameras with the 1982 film Fermented Wardrobe; Wardrobe Beygiri, Life Festival, Sea Expatriates, Blue Exile, 80th Step), Ladder, Vizontele, Mizontele Tuuba, Tell Istanbul, Organized Works, Unforgettable, Waiting for Heaven, Exam, Homecoming, I Saw the Sun, Confused, Muslim, Cicero, He has appeared in many television series as well as movies such as Hababam Classroom Rebuild and Heavy Romance.

   Altan Erkekli, who has been giving diction, announcer and presenter, voice acting and acting training since 2007, gives life to the character of Salih Hulisi Pasha in Ya İstiklal Ya Death series, which is now broadcast on TRT 1 screens.
